Introduction
IPsession takes advantage of placing an ‘always-on’ workstation (IP Phone) on the network, to provide organizations of all sizes the ability to impact key business initiatives using VoIP. IPsession provides organizations a way to enhance their employee’s desktop experience via the IP Phone. IPcelerate’s IPsession comes with over 40 VoIP capabilities ranging from basic telephony features such as paging, to solution-oriented capabilities such as situational awareness, shift-management and integrated building control systems. Additional services such as call recording, call monitoring, video blogging, nurse call systems, dynamic phone location updates and an open application development platform are made possible through IPsession’s APIs and NIPA Framework.
Application Server Description
The IPsession is an applications convergence development platform that delivers embedded, integrated and converged capabilities in your IP communications environment. The IPsession is built on IPcelerate’s award winning NIPA Framework and provides a basic set of abstractions and Application Programming Interface (APIs) that provide an out-of-the-box, documented means of interfacing the Cisco Unified Communication solution to many other IT and business technologies that organizations have already invested in.
IPsession capabilities enhance the Cisco IP Communications environment by utilizing the Cisco open architecture in developing a set of products that is not found in a traditional PBX environment. IPsession:

- Provides a unified applications management interface
- Reduces application interaction with Cisco CallManager, decreasing the applications load
The web based administration interface provides a user-friendly environment to configure and manage all the capabilities that come pre-loaded on the IPsession server.
General Capabilities
Embedded
IPsession embedded capabilities are table stakes – innovative features that make the telephony experience more productive and more powerful, but they’re not dramatically moving the needle when it comes to the ROI of a VoIP deployment. IPsession version 5.4 includes over 40 embedded capabilities.
Integrated
IPsession integrated capabilities start to bring significant enhancements to a VoIP deployment – session recording, video surveillance, IP speakers, etc. These are features that, if purchased from other vendors, would require you to have a significant amount of customization and integration effort. Since these enhanced capabilities are already integrated with IPsession, deploying them is easy, leverage IPsession embedded capabilities and only uses one instance of Cisco JTAPI.
Convergence
IPsession convergence capabilities focus and affect business processes. Leveraging the Network IP Application framework, IPsession has the ability to integrate with any of the technologies/systems already deployed in your network and the IP Telephony solution.
