Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA), Oklahoma
As a public safety business, EMSA is required by law to record all phone conversations coming into their 911 communication centers. While the organization already had a call recording solution for non-VoIP 911 calls and their radio system, they had no solution in place for their new VoIP lines. In addition to their 911 centers, EMSA needed a way to record calls handled through their Regional Trauma, Transfer and Referral Center and their billing department. EMSA receives approximately 4 requests a month for both written and audio documentation of specific calls in order to answer clinical questions or settle disputes. EMSA is the only entity recording calls, and so it was imperative they deploy an IP recording solution quickly. IPcelerate’s IPstudio recording platform was installed and automatic call recording for all VoIP calls was initiated.
“We are a technology focused organization, in computing and telephony, and needed an infrastructure that allowed us to take better care of sick and hurt people.”

Middle Atlantic Products, Inc.
In 2006, Middle Atlantic moved into a new, 500,000 square foot facility and experienced a potential life-threatening situation that caused them to evaluate their emergency management capabilities. An employee called 911 from within the building, and the emergency medical personnel that responded were not able to locate this person in a timely manner. Middle Atlantic knew they needed to find a solution that could identify the location of the 911 call and quickly dispatch assistance. After researching a variety of options, they selected IPcelerate’s Internal 911 Alert Notification solution because the IPsession server could not only address emergency management, but also offered a host of other embedded business solutions with the company could deploy including call recording and conference bridging.
“We were really only in the market for a few features and IPcelerate did those few things excellent. On top of that, we have all the other features that come along with what we needed. IPcelerate definitely exceeded our expectations.”
- Joe Chromcik, Network Administrator
University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC)
UMKC is a growing campus, with departments and personnel constantly moving to different areas or new buildings. Departments are put in temporary quarters while new construction is occurring, and personnel are moved from desk to desk as departments grow. As people moved, their phones needed to move with them, and the Information Services department was challenged in keeping pace. Often this resulted in costly time delays and expensive end-user department changes, as extensions were moved and reestablished. VoIP effectively eliminated this problem as personnel could now carry their phones to their new location, plug them in, and their extension would remain the same. This migration to VoIP solved a time and resource management challenge for the IS department and eliminated IS expenses for each department, but it created a new business challenge in its place – 911 location identification.
“It’s not a phone replacement anymore…IPcelerate is a big part of that.” - Jim Schonemann, Mgr. Network Services
Registered Stock Trading Company in Mexico
A registered stock trading company with Mexico’s BOLSA required a comprehensive recording solution for their corporate and 8 regional offices. Providing executives a one touch option to record a conversation based on content was just as critical as dependably recording customer service agents’ calls.
IPcelerate’s solution utilized an IPsession and IPstudio 200 at the corporate office, and an IPstudio 10 at each of the 8 regional offices. In addition to call recording the IPcelerate solution implemented several IPsession applications such as Pre-Programmed Conferencing, Paging (Text), Dial Out, Time Card and 911 Alert for more functionality. IPstudio and IPsession have become critical to the company’s day-to-day operations and maintaining their license as a trading house.
Quick Service Restaurant Business Impact
Applications that address and solve critical business initiatives are the catalyst to deploying a converged network. Converging voice, video and data is a good start. Leveraging a converged network to deliver business impacting applications to expedite the ROI is the solution customers are looking for.
A Subway franchise owner knew that moving to a converged network would affect his bottom line, and after engaging in an IPcelerate Application Discovery Workshop, he realized that the business impacting applications that leveraged a converged network is the catalyst for converging voice, video and data.
Judicial Security
While the judges in the county courthouse were upholding the laws to better serve and protect the community, they were threatened by criminals and ex-criminals that sought out revenge. A recent shooting inside another city’s courtroom made the need for additional security a top priority for the county. The judges wanted to feel safe and confident that a call for help would be heard and responded to in a timely fashion.
School Safety
During the school day, potential exists for a dangerous situation to occur, placing faculty and students in physical danger. Teachers were being assaulted, students were fighting and equipment was being stolen. A panic code was configured to work on an IP Phone; however, teachers were not always near an IP Phone and didn’t have time to get to an IP Phone to trigger an alert.
