K12 Fund Raising

Increasing Fundraising With Visual Communications

The Challenge

A series of budget cuts has required a large high school to start fundraising for academic supplies and tools.

  • They send out emails and flyers on a regular basis, but are not having much success
  • The school administrators want to educate parents on the academic successes in the school, as well as better inform them as to how important their donation to the school would be, but traditional communication tools are not working
  • With additional budget cuts heading their way, raising these funds is critical to the ongoing success and high test scores of the school

Benefits of Solving

  • Providing a new way for the school to communicate their needs will better capture the attention of parents
  • Sharing short, concise videos allows parents a visual entry into the school—classrooms, activities, common areas—that they would not normally have
  • Pulling parents into the school community will increase their willingness to help with donations
  • Using familiar technology such as email and the Internet, parents can click on links to watch videos, sign up to volunteer at events, make an online donation, or contribute suggestions/comments after the video for the school and community-at-large
  • Any teacher or coach can also enjoy the benefit of visual communications, using videos to raise money for specific departments, sports teams or clubs

The school has the ability to create and manage audio/visual messages to then share with a community of parents.

  • IPession Add-on Streamz and IPsession Mobile Streaming Video is used by faculty and administrators to create short videoshighlighting key messages to aid in fundraising efforts
  • These Videos are created on the Apple iPad using the Streaming Video capability
  • The faculty member creates a stream, designates the exact audience (all parents or subsets depending on the message) who should have access to the information, and then posts it on the school district's portal contained within IPsession
  • The designated parents receive a notification in their email Inbox, and click on the provided link to access the portal and view/listen to the stream
  • The portal can be password-protected, if desired. Parents can post thoughts/questions in the comment section of the stream, opening up dialog with faculty and other parents
  • Links to volunteer sign-up or online donations can be inserted below the video
